Check Disk (chkdsk) Questions – For Vista

1. Can Check Disk be made to run at a scheduled time other than boot up?

2. If I choose not to schedule Check Disk at boot up or other times, does
Vista run Check Disk (scan and repair) automatically if there is a problem on
my C drive.

3. Windows Vista has a tool to run Check Disk. I have not used that tool
because of a concern I have read about. If I choose to run that tool for the
first time, will my PC always run Check Disk at boot up? I would hope the
answer is No.

4. I read that Check Disk can be run by the key strokes Windows +R. I tried
that and it did work. Does someone know if that process only scans my drive
or does it scan and repair?

Thanks,
Jerry

I don't know exactly how Check Disk works but I do know that it can't do
it's job properly while Windows is running.

Check Disk is an effective tool that will run at boot-time only if you
request it. It cannot run on system disk if Windows is currently active.
