"Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" checkbox are
grayed out in Windows Vista Home Edition

I am unable to change the program to open this kind of file ".url" I did a
google search, and found many answers but any one work for me, the option
still grayed out with a check mark.

Any help will be appreciated.

Default Programs in Control Panel should show a list of programs in the 'set
your default programs' link. If you choose another browser besides IE, like
Firefox, the url association will change.

Use the "Ratings" feature. It helps the new users.

out. (disabled)

I am having the same issue. For the life of me I can not add a new file type
or get my "always use this program" option to work. I am on W2000 server and
MDI files are not opening!!!
