I want to activate automatic checking for incoming email.
I followed the instructions from the microsoft site:
__________________________________________________ _________

To check for new e-mail automatically

1. Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button Picture of the
Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.

3. Click the General tab, and then select the Check for new
messages every X minute(s) check box.

4. To change how often Windows Mail checks for new messages,
enter a number between 1 and 480 in the Check for new messages every X
minute(s) box.
__________________________________________________ _______

I tried it out, and while it may well perform the check, it does not
in any way notify of any new incoming email (Yes, the sound is turned
"on").

What am I overlooking?
Any help / suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Is there a sound assigned for notification? Go to start\settings\control
panel\sound\sounds\ and pull slider down to "new mail notification",
highlight and try test. I personally like this wav. -got mail.wav- (Morticia
Adams "Mails In"). http://www.twow.com/thumper/mild.htm

Works fine here.

You DO, of course, need to keep MS Mail running for that to work.
