On our windows 2000 sp4 server I am unable to get my windows updates, the
green bar keeps on scrolling,I had this issue last year and reinstalling IE6
seemed to fix the problem. I have tried the suggestions of reregistering
dll's as suggested in a previous post in this forum by "DaFuZzMaStA" .
however this has not worked either. Any other suggestions are most
appreciated thanks

Your log file maybe out-of-sync.

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStor e.edb

If this file get corrupted, Windows Update cannot process it to determine
what has already been downloaded/installed.

Thanks for your suggestion Larry. I followed this procedure to rebuild the
DATASTORE
To re-create the DATASTORE IF the Datastore.edb file is corrupted, follow
this procedure;
NET STOP WUAUSERV.
Rename %windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder and %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log
file .
NET START WUAUSERV.
Unfortunately this did not work, would you have any other suggestions I
could try?

Regards Marc

When this occurs ... do you get any errors in Event Viewer. What does
WindowsUpdate.log have?
