Checking Latest Version

When I click on the screen to start Windows Update it
stops on the screen "Checking for the latest version of
the Windows Update Software...." I have checked the
database for info and the only thing that comes up has to
do with something called Zone Alert, which I do not have
installed. Any help you can give?

Please check this log file for any clues or error messages:

%windir%\WindowsUpdate.log

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)
