Checkpoint Secure Remote and high CPU utilization

I'm having a problem with Checkpoint Secure Remote. On my laptop
(Dell Latitude D810) I am finding that my CPU spikes to near 100%
about every 5 seconds and only lasts for an instance. The process
that is doing this is the SYSTEM process and therfore gets top CPU
priority. The effect is my system is sluggish (even mouse events seem
to get held up so my mouse pointer "sticks" and starts). This occurs
with or without the secure remote client "stopped" or connected.

If I unistall Secure Remote, the problem goes away.

I downloaded the latest version of the client that is supposed to
support Vista. It is NGX R60 HFA2.

Any ideas?
