Does anyone know how good Chess Titans is? I put it on level 6 twice and it beat Kasparov Chess at a rating of 2350, easily. I wish I still had Chessmaster. Also, from what little I have found on the net it seems that a lot of people are complaining about bugs. I haven't had any problems with it.

Hi,

By a chessplayer's standard it's fairly low on the difficulty scale
according to associates of mine that are serious about the game. I'm a
casual player, and have found it fairly easy to stymie the machine on the
higher levels.

Good for beginers and learning types Vista Titans is OK.

But going beyond novice and the experienced players will much prefer GNU
Chess on Linux.

Maybe so but the millions of users out there will have no use for that
INFERIOR OS. If you want to get real work done you need a real Operating
System. That is where Microsoft solutions come in.

If you can't get laid and need to tinker around with a TOY OS, then Ubuntu
is right up your alley.

It is supposed to be FUN. It would not be fun if it beat you all the time.
Serious Chess Players have other programs to test and master their skills.

I'm sorry, but I don't know if I believe that. For one, the "average"
"Chess player" rating is 1600. Kasparov only goes to 2350 which isn't
Grandmaster (I think Grandmaster is 2700?) but is quite a ways up there.
Now, if Chess Titans, at only 60%, is kicking the **** out of a 2350 rating
ON LEVEL 6 I'm willing to bet it could hang with GNU or Chessmaster on the
higher levels. FWIW, which admittedly isn't much, I taught myself chess at
about age 7 and have been playing off and on my whole life. I beat everyone
I've played pretty much, I realize that doesn't mean anything being the
average person that thinks they are a chess player isn't even close to a
1600 rating (which is just average in the Chess world). I guess what I'm
saying is either you must be a really good chess player if you are beating
Chess Titans on even
higher levels. Or everyone is just parroting the same old crud about it. I
guess I am going to have to come up with that Chessmaster cd after all. Or
maybe I misunderstood what you meant by "stymie." Anyhow, thanks for the
response. I don't mean to come off as a dickhead or anything.

It beat it easily.

No, it was my new laptop ( running Chess Titans) against my desktop running
XP.(and Kasparov ).

Hmmm. It seems like it would play at the level advertised maybe just take
longer to make moves or something. But in fairness my laptop has an AMD X2
Turion 2 gig CPU and my desktop is a 500mhz p3. Not to mention the
difference in RAM.

I don't know about that. I played a couple of more games, only this time
switched sides, and Kasparov killed CT.
