Hello everyone
I had seen a similar topic at this forum before, but I can't find it
I am looking for a way allowing me to type in Chinese in this keyboard
I looked up the Vista "help" section. I am supposed to download th
Language Interface Pack (LIP) first. However, when I went to the MS we
site and clicked on the map that said "Asia", Chinese language was NO
on the list. The Whole Asia continent! Go figure
The method I saw before in this forum was very different than th
"help" section
Will someone please show me how ? Thank you

Hey t-4-2,

What's up? How about this: Click on Control Panel and then click on
"Regional and Language Options". Under the "Formats" tab you will see
"Current format". Click on the arrow to allow the dropdown list of various
languages and you will see the Chinese language option you desire.
The reason you cannot find it on the Download website is because it is
already installed on Vista. I hope this helps you.

Hey again,

Sorry, I guess that was for formats only. I've looked everywhere for
the language interface pack and cannot find it. I know it exists for Vista
but I just can't find it. I'll keep looking.

Well, here we go for the third time. Click on Control Panel and select
Regional and Language Options. Click on the Keyboard and Languages tab and
then click on the Change keyboards button. I think the one you want is the
Chinese (Simplified, PRC)-US Keyboard under the General tab. You can then
click on the Language Bar tab and pick your setting for it. Let me know if
this works.

I am not sure whether this exists in other editions but at least in the
Ultimate edition you can get the L. I. P. as an optional update from Windows
Update, for both simplified as well as traditional Chinese.

Hello C.B.
The first link showed me how to pick the Chinese language. That's
simple. It does not show me HOW to type Chinese in my keyboard. I think
I need to buy a software in Chinese language in order to type in
Chinese. I don't know.
The 2nd link is about handwriting recognition. Forget that.

Hey t-4-2,

Everything you need is there. I installed it on my computer and checked
it out in Wordpad. It works great. You have to click on the Language bar and
switch it from English to Chinese. If it doesn't work after you do this hit
the Control/Shift buttons and then start typing. When you type the word you
want it will type in English and then give you a selection of Chinese words
to choose from, such as 杜 霞, my wife's name. You must choose the correct
Chinese word because, as you know, each Chinese word can have several
meanings depending on how you pronounce it, such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,
9. See how easy that is. Let's do your name. 体-付-土。
Let me know if you have any problems.

C.B.
