I just happened to run Windows Update, and checked out that there was a
driver for an old TV Card i have in my pc (a Provideo PV-951 which
incorrecltly Windows detected as PV-956).
I don't use it, so I didn't care (i have it... because... i have it!). I was
shocked whe I saw that the drivers were signed by Microsoft (something
amazing for a chinese/taiwanese/cheap tv card).
I tried to use Amcap (a small DirectShow app for testing TV cards) and it
kinda worked (kinda... can't tune anything instead two channels... but at
least that's something!). Maybe correct Microsoft signed drivers would fix
it in the near future.
I thought that was all... but here comes the funny part...
I was trying Media Center in the morning, and accidenlty clicked the
"Configure TV" button. Because I have a MCE computer, I knew that you need
an "MCE Ready" tuner to make Media Center work.
BUT, the TV started to sound!!!!!!!!!!!
(Well, just static... but it was the tuner!!!)
And then it stopped... And windows propted that it couldn't find a Tuner o_O
So... Does this mean Microsoft is going to support these
cheap/chinese/taiwanese cards?
