chkdisk and re-register Vista Home premium

I had an issue with my hard drive and ran chkdisk(on next boot-up). After
chkdsk was finished it said that I had to re-register vista due to hardware
changes(none were mad). I tried to re-register but I keep getting that the
reg key is alreadyy in use(since I registered after my initial install).
What do I do?
