CHKDSK error - entry point not found - after installing Update rol

After installing Window 2000 Update rollup 1, CHKDSK fails to work - displays
'error entry point not found'.
This was reported to Microsoft UK just afetr the update rollup became
available, their response at that time was to backout the Update (yes the
lot).
After all this time, I thought they would have produced a fix to be applied
after the update rollup, but no such luck.

Any suggestions, apart from backing out the update yet again?
