Where is chkdsk log file in Vista Home Premium??

I've looked all over Event Viewer and haven't found it yet. If chkdsk runs
at boot time, where is the log stored?

No idea. I ran chkdsk to see if I could find it and can't either. On XP you
just look in winlogon under event viewer but that does not work on Vista. I
guess it's just another one of those "you do not need to know" things. I'm
sure it is there somewhwere though.

Under "Computer", right-click on the disc you wish to check, then select properties. Then select the "Tools", and then hit the "check now" button.

PSSSSST! They are looking for the log (if there is one) that CHKDSK
creates, not how to run it.

Reading is a skill.

Control Panel > classic view > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > (prompt)
left panel, click the pointer in front of Windows Logs > under th
above, click Application > middle column, scroll to find the list tha
says Chkdsk ( depending on how long you did the last chkdsk, it coul
take a while to scroll to the list ), left click on Chkdsk > righ
panel, under Event Chkdsk, click Event Properties > a new window showin
you the log you want. Just scroll up and down to view

Thanks for the info. I did find it following your directions but it was
listed under Wininit not Chkdsk with an event ID of 1001. I'm using Home
Premium by the way.

That's strange! Mine is Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
