I keep receiving a an error that my diskeeper will not run because chkdsk is scheduled to run on my volume: C drive due to a user rquest or poertating system found errors in file system. CHKDSK will run automatically during the next system reboot. Diskkeeper cannot defragment this volume until CHKDSK is run.

HOwever, on reboot after reboot CHKDSK will not run, only a check is attempted and it says cannot get direct access to volume. Does anyone out there have an answer to this problem?

JSI Tip 7079_ You receive 'Cannot open volume for direct access'

Cannot open volume for direct access.
The type of the file system is NTFS.

Windows has finished checking the disk.

An answer which has worked for users who have Zone alarm 5 installed is to
uninstall it and revert to version 4.5. There have been subsequent patches
to version 5 but these have not proved satisfactory. There is now a further
beta version that is supposed to fix the problem. Having been on the
Merry-go-round I am staying with version 4.5 for the foreseeable future.

For further details see the Zone Alarm notice boards.

Richard.

Hi Hobbit - You're most likely getting this because you upgraded Zone Alarm
to version 5.0.590.043 which contains a bug. If you will upgrade to the
just released version 5.1. 011.000, it's fixed there.
