We are using remote sessions on a Citrix Server. We have access to all
programs of the office suite, also MS Outlook.

We think of buying som PDA's but I am concerned that activesync won't be
able to syncronise data (mail, calendar og others) between Outlook, running
on citrix and the PDA.

Simple question. Is it possible to syncronise between Outlook running on
Citrix MetaFrame and a PDA - using activesync???

No idea, but if you don't get your answer why not buy one rather than 'some'
to try? Or do you have a friend/colleague/supplier where you could borrow
one to try?

I can tell you that ActiveSync will not work "reliably" through a
workstation that is just a Citrix client. If ActiveSync runs on the Citrix
server, and say more than one user wants to sync, what might happen? I can
tell you that the first guy wins. So, what about when the first guy is
done? Sure, the second can "typically" get connected/synced. THis is true
with "port mapping" and coneecting serially, and when connecting wirelessly.
ActiveSync itself was never designed to be a "server", although there are
certain aspects of its architecture that lead me to think that they might be
heading in that direction in the future.

If you only want to syn with an Exchange server, you'll probably be in luck
though. I haven't done it because our Exchange is managed elsewhere, but
all you need is network connectivity, presumably wireless, to connect with
Exchange. If you don't have wireless and instead rely on ActiveSyn itself
for network pass-through, your out of luck for the reasons stated in the
first paragraph.

I agree with the other read who suggests that you "borrow" a device to do
your experiments.

Hi,
Short answer - No. You cannot sync with Citrix because the Pocket PC is
expecting a real PC to sync with. ActiveSync does not support a thin client
to sync with nor does it support a server. A workaround may be to use
Exchange 2003 which supports synchronization of the Pocket PC directly with
the server using any TCP/IP connection.
