Win XP Pro sp3 running IE7 with full updates

C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts\wlcomm.exe, 14.0.8117.0416
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\installer\wlarp.exe, 14.0.8117.0416
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\installer\wloobe.exe, 14.0.8117.0416
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe, 14.0.8117.0416
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe, 14.0.8117.0416
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msvs.exe, 1.9.7876.1
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\wlcsdk.exe, 14.0.8117.0416
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\wlcstart.exe, 14.0.8117.0416

I'd like to backup the custom folders and then remove all windows Live
products then install again. not sure what folders hold what and what
the instal/remove program removes.

TIA for any help.

Fyi...the full installer is no longer available from the Windows Live Download site..
If you wish to obtain the full offline installer file...go here, the section titled 'Links' has the url for the full installer
version.

The latest wave 4 beta does not support XP. But the wave 3 release does:

I am accessing this newsgroup with Forte's Agest newsreader.

X-Mailer: Microsoft Windows Live Mail 14.0.8117.416

I guess means I don't have Wave 3? Can I safely just install Wave 3
over what i have?

Hi, Charles.

Looks like Oji and Winston are busy at the moment, so I'll try to fill in.

That build (14.0.8117.416) is the last one issued for Wave 3's WLM 14; it
was a minor update that I never bothered to install over the year-old
14.0.8089.0726.

The new Wave 4 beta (build 15.3.2804.0607) installed smoothly for me last
week, right over the top of Wave 3. ;<) I got it from
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-beta

As you can read from many posts here, Wave 4 is working well for many of us,
although there are several bugs that remind us that it is, after all, still
in beta.

Thank you but I have been told this is the last version that will work
under XP - so I can't upgrade.

Charles..
That is correct ...if you have version 14.0.8117.416...you can not upgrade to a later version.

That is slightly different(upgrading) than your original request..
<qp>
I'd like to backup the custom folders and then remove all windows Live
products then install again
</qp>
I.e. you can still do the above, but only 'install again' with the Wave 3/2009 version(14.0.8117.416) which is still available and
should continue so for the foreseeable future.
