I have windows 2000 and want to upgrade to vista home premium. Can I do this
with an upgrade disk?

Hi,

Yes, but it will be a clean install, and user settings, accounts, and
programs will not be migrated.

Thats what I wanted. I wasn't sure if you could do a clean install with an
upgrade disk.

He doesn't need to do that workaround. The Win2000 installation will
validate the upgrade disk, but the only option open from there will be a
custom install.

Yes, Win2K is a qualifying product for an Upgrade to Vista Home
Premium. However, because of the differences between the two operating
systems, a clean installation will be required.

However, if your computer is old enough to be running Win2K, some of
its components may not meet Vista's higher needs. I'd strongly suggest
that you run the Upgrade Adviser before going any further down this
road. While not 100% accurate, this tool should give you a fair idea of
any stumbling blocks:
