clean-up unwanted instances

I inherited a server with 3 SQL Server instances :

1. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition
2. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
3. Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Edition

The Standard product is currently installed.

Apparently the Express product was installed then uninstalled.

The Desktop product is currently installed.

I'd like to get rid of everything except Standard Edition and its instance.

Is this straightforward ?

Any advice on how to not get myself into trouble ?
