Cleaned computer now unable to detect cable

I have just recently cleaned my computer using a duster after having not
cleaned it for a good 2-3 months and have 2 pcs connected to a
billion...Billion modem which I do not remember the serial for. Since
reconnecting the PC however after cleaning it out the machine no longer
detects my Ethernet cable as being plugged into my network card (a
Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCi-E GBE NIC)....I have tried disabling
and renabling the network card on vista, disconnecting the cable and
reconnecting it where the network card itself lights up as well as
removing the card and re-slotting it in before booting on the PC again
however the issue continues to exist. It has always worked for the past
year or so and so I am baffled as to why it would suddenly stop working
and am currently extremely frustrated. Is anyone able to provide
assistance at this point in time?

Hi
I usually avoid the Duster things because the only one who benefit from them
is the people who sell it.
Some of these Dusters actually leave moisture that promote Rusting, others
might be too powerful and cause physical damage.
As mentioned above, try first another cable. If it does not help it might be
the RJ-45 jack on the back of the card is too loose and you need to try
another card.
Otherwise when the card works, uninstall its Drivers. Reboot the computer,
and install fresh new Drivers (get the latest one from the support site of
the computer).

Tried that...didn't work =(

The modem lights up too which would mean it detected the connection too
I assume?

Some of the "dusters" spray liquid as well as air. It's remotely possible
that the liquid thermally shocked something on the NIC card. (IC's, solder
joints, etc.)
It's not a common problem, but is within the realm of probability. It
usually happens when a card is stressed mechanically during production, or
an IC with poor internal connection welds is on the card.
