There is a much simpler way to do this.
1. Click on the pop up saying updates are available.
2. Click on Custom Install
3. Uncheck Service Pack 2.
4. Click on the "Close" button (not the red X, not the Cancel!)
5. You will get a pop up that says "Don't Notify Me about these updates
again". Check the box.
6. Click OK.
To restore SP2 to your list of updates to install at a later time, in the
Automatic Updates Control Panel, click the link that says "Offer updates
that I've Hidden".
