One of my friends added me into his contact list, and then his name/email
displayed in my contact list (i didn't remember whether i granted his request)

during my vocation, he sent me an offline message and i received it today.
but when i tried to reply, i found i could not send offline message to him.
upon the conversation dialog, there's a warning message, said
" is not in your contact list. Click here to add him or her
now" (yet the "Click here to add him or her now" is a link). so i DO click
it,but it doesn't work. nothing happened, and i can't send offline message to
my friend (i don't get a chance to send an online message as we have 8 hours
time-difference).

so is there any functional issues around it?

Greetings,

I sympathize with you completely. Not only is this bug annoying, it happens
very often. Have you tried adding the contact from Windows Messenger and
then signing into Windows Live Messenger with the same Live ID? Does the
error still occur? Please get back to me when you can.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply!

i didnot try with Windows Messenger. i just deleted the contact and re-add
him. and now everything seems to be OK.
maybe i can follow you when next time i encounter a similar problem,
although i don't want to have such experiences.

Thanks again.

Having the same probs, with 2 different addresses, one on yahoo, one on
hotmail, neither were showing up on my 'online contacts list'
Friend had a brilliant idea, uninstall and reinstall live msngr.. i did.
Now, I cant even log in at all. It gets to the 'signing in' with the msn guys
(the green and blue msn ppl) moving about, but just sits there forever,
doesnt do anything else.
So now, the only way i can be on messenger is either to use webmessenger or
to use Windows... neither of which is appealing.
Ive uninstalled, totally removed every piece of the program i can find, then
reinstalled, and am still having the same problem.
Is there something else i can do?
