Clock update :auto or manually

After the updates from windows update site my clock will not update..always
error at windows.com or gov.com..in safe mode it says RPC is unavailable.Does
anyone have an answer for this and could this be the reason why win.updates
site will not work.

Had the problem myself regarding internet time not updating.

I came up with this:

A list of the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) time servers that are
available on the Internet

Just type the address you want (or copy and paste) in the combo listbox.
No registry editing.

Then update.

Worked for me.

Combo list box?..is this for xpsp2 also..2 hours with MS tech help and they
can't fix this problem..they are outsourcing themselves right off the internet

Select Internet Time Zone.
See the part where it is checked "Automatically synchronize with an Internet
time server".
Under that you'll see "Server"
In the combo box already listed is time.windows.com
Select another server from the list previously noted in the link, I chose
one in Australia, type it in (or copy and paste) and then click on "update
now".

That's all I did. I simply chose another time server from the list.
WinXP SP2.
