Closing lid puts laptop into sleep mode?

Not sure if this is the right place for this question. I don't know what
category it falls into. I'm trying to find where the setting is in Vista to
stop my laptop from going into some kind of sleep mode every time I close the
lid?

Same as in XP - Control panel-Power options.

I think you are right: it does not have to do with Vista. Look in Control
Panel for an icon named Power Options or the like. In my lapto (it's a Vaio)
there are settings for definig what happens when you close the lid.

And it's even easier than that - Control panel-Power options and in the L/H
pane there's an option to change the behaviour when the lid is closed...
