Closing Windows Live

If I forget to close Windows Live before shutting down the PC, I get an
error message that msnmsgr.exe is still running (even if I have logged
out of Live). All other programs are automatically closed by the PC
shut-down button, why not this one?

Because it was running in the background while still shutting down, so it
had to kill the process while shutting down, which triggered the error
message. Try exiting it from the Notification Area next time.

Thanks, yes that always works - but I wonder why I should have to do
that when everything else shuts down automatically.

Some programs don't have a problem and some do.

I personally don't have the problem, but various configurations and settings
can result in different experiences.
