Clues for My failed updates?

My complaint is like the others. Below is information I've taken from my
Framework.log. Why does my second sample talk about Windows Product
Activation in the Framework.log?
On three different days, .NETFramework 1.1 is ready for download, (?and
did?) but my system is not acting right (Windows XP SP2 ver. 2002). A few
days ago the WGA (windows genuine advantage) 2MB file wanted to download,
but as soon as I gave it permission, it seemed to disappear. It was as
though the update thought I did not have this on my computer yet.

Same thing for .NET Framework 1.1 - as I ask for the download, the dialog
closes and computer gets logey and finally, when I go to shut down, I get
the message not to turn off the computer; the download will complete and
then the computer will shut down by itself. Also, I cannot delete emails.

I get no error messages. One thing that is strange is that when the download
is "ready" I get the gold shield with the exclamation mark, but when I shut
down, the Windows Firewall shield is setting on top of the shutdown icon.

Because of no confirmation or apparent real install activity, I did a search
and found
FrameWork.log at C:\Windows\system32\wbem\Logs
and see something curious (samples below). Can someone tell me if this looks
all right, or are they clues of a mixup? Looks like something is mixed up
(framework log and windows activation setting).

for downloading/installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.
I am using Windows Vista. The error message is like this:

Failed: 1 update

Code 80070002 Get help (in hyperlink)

I tried to install it 7 times - 2 times yesterday and 5 times today.

Since you have Vista, try this, you don't have nothing to loose

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
This is the site for the original .NET download. Install it ontop of the
existing you have on Vista, then run the Windows Update. It will now show it
installed successfully.

My OS is Vista.

I wrote an email to the Microsoft helpdesk and they adviced me to delete the
"Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1" from my computer, because when you're running
Vista, "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0" is already installed.

I do have the same problem and followed the suggestion of reinstalling the
original
framework one "over the original one"and reported as successful BUT on
reboot the update is "available" again!!!! I am going 'bananas'
