CNTRL-V stops working in Vista

Does anyone know why Cntrl-V stops working after a while in a Vista
session? This happens in both Vista 32 and Vista 64. After one has
been working or writing for a while, one has to select “paste” from
the drop-down or other menu to execute the paste function. This
happens across many applications and only a reboot seems to make it go
away. On a parallel note, since I use speech-recognition software,
the paste command in Dragon (or Windows Speech Recognition, for that
matter) goes dead at the same time.

This behavior is quite annoying. Does anyone know what is going on
and how to avoid this problem?

I gather you are dual-booting? Since this happens in two separate operating
systems, unless you can establish that Ctrl-V stops working at exactly X
time after doing X in both operating systems, then I'd look to the
hardware. If you are using a specialized keyboard uninstall the software
and use a plain vanilla keyboard instead. Test for a while to see if the
problem recurs. If it doesn't, then you know there's something wrong with
the original keyboard and/or its software.

This will give you a starting point for your troubleshooting anyway.

Yes I am dual booting--quad booting actually. Okay, thanks for this.
I was hoping this was a known problem. I use a Microsoft wireless
keyboard and mouse so perhaps some times when I have time—if I ever
have time, that is— I will give this a try.

Thanks again!
