I bought a retail version of Vista Business 32 bit which I loaded ont
my desktop

The desktop has now been superseded (the old one was scrapped) but
now have a machine without a COA sticker but my installation is the onl
one being used under this COA number.

I recently had to send the PC to the repairers and was told that, as
did not have a valid COA Sticker on the machine I had an ilegal copy! I
this correct

If this is true the how can I get a replacement COA sticker for the ne
machine

Hi,

A COA sticker is used for OEM installations. If you installed a retail copy
of Vista, you don't need one.

If your retail copy of Vista is a full retail version you should only have
to provide the package with the CD key to the repair shop to prove your
right to use.

Your retail version of Business should have it's orange key sticker on the
back of the foldout tray (where the DVDs are stored). They only need that
25 character key to activate on a new machine. With retail products the key
sticker is never on the machine.

If the copy of Vista you bought came with a COA sticker to apply to the PC,
then you bought an OEM license, not a retail license, thus it's not
transferable.
If you did in fact buy a retail license, you don't get a COA sticker, nor
should you have one, the idiots you took your computer to have no clue what
they're doing, I would find a new shop

The shop is confused. You're nto required to have COA for a retail Windows,
is that obvious or not?
What idiots are repairing you rmachine? Give them a Microsoft phone# to
educate themselves, OR find a better shop, or ship it to me and I'll fix for
mich cheaper because I simply love working with tese things, not just
getting paid...
