Thanks for both ideas.
I have downloaded the latest driver multiple times, uninstalled and
re-installed many times, but that is clearly not the problem.
I uninstalled the modem,then disabled com1 in BIOS (the only one I
have on my ASRock motherboard) as suggested. The modem re-installed
but the problem is still there. I know com1 is disabled because it no
longer appears in device manager.
Any other suggestions?
