I have had this error message since Feb. I can't get it to stop giving me
this message and I don't think that the computer is getting all of the
updates that it needs. Some of the updates are still installing but not all
of them. the Technition at the retail store told me that one of the updates
may be causing this error to occur but there isn't anything that I can do
about. I am tired of getting this message and I would like help fixing it.

For XP

You may receive an error message that contains the "0x8DDD0018" code or the "0x80246008"
code when you try to download updates from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site or from
the Microsoft Update Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910337
Windows could not start the Background Intelligent Transfer service on the local computer.
For more information, review the system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service,
contact the service vendor and refer to service-specific error code -2147467243.
