Column sizes in explorer

Is it possible to permanently resize the columns in windows explorer?
I am fed up having to resize every time I open a folder.

Make sure you only have one Windows explorer window open. Resize the Windows
explorer window to the maximum size without using the maximize button (drag
and extend the window). Close the window. Windows explorer remembers the last
window size so the next time you launch it, it should open a window maximized.
