"Com 3 port not available"

I try to sync my treo 700p with my Motion tablet PC and get the message
"Com] port not available. Hot sync will open the port when it becomes
available".

I have used the treo 700p with my other Motion Tablet (same OS) and it
worked fine.
Also, instead of the Palm background, the PC opens Windows Media Player
when attempting to sync.
Please advise.
