I have installed XP in a Pentium II desk top formerly running 98SE but find
that COM and LPT ports no longer work. They are OK if I reboot using 98SE.

Any solution to this problem?

Any advice gratefully received

You probably have other issues as well. WinXP does not have support
built in for many legacy (old) computer configurations. Drivers must be
XP-compatible and these come from the computer vendor. Additionally,
the computer might need a BIOS update for XP in order for XP to "see"
these ports. Lastly, you might get lucky by entering BIOS setup (F2,
Del, Esc, or whatnot at boot - see your user manual) and checking that
Plug and Play OS is enabled, and that the ports are enabled.
