Com Ports

does anyone know how to free up com ports?

I was having trouble installing drivers for my usb-serial converter and it
now has com3-com8 in use..

I can only get my gps to hook up to com9 now!!

What type of USB adapter are you using?
I had similar problems with a Belkin.
I found a adapter that let me change the com port and even
when something else SUPPOSEDLY was using a port,
I was able to set it at what I wanted and it worked.

But I can't remember who made it, and I can't seem to locate
the adapter! Argh, I found my Belkin. I have a zipped driver for it

All It says is PL-2303 chipset.
