Embossed effects are being used too much.
The rounded frame around the display picture does not work well with other
elements.
The look and location of the menus seem to be out of place. They do not
work and look as coherently as before.
Without the frame around the contact window, the bottom half looks too
“thin”, especially with the embossed effect on the upper half.
Overall, the new interface does not improve user experience. And it doesn’t
look as appealing as before.

What do others think?

I like this because I use the a-patch to remove the advertisment...

thin is good...

As for the other comments.. they are trying to give it a vista look.. and we
all know how badly designed vista is..

or dont we?

The new design sucks.

You get a new design! Be happy!!!

(Even the developers not read bug reports or feature request from the
users..., can you show me any thread here in this newsgroup about "We
need a new design!" ? (Except this rare requests about Vista Aero
thing, maybe)
AND who need this picture frame? And if someone really need it, he must
use a turquoise desktop theme? (It's impossible to adjust this color)

Greetings,

Out of curiosity, have you ever used OS X with it's "frameless" windows? Some people really
like that effect.

The worst thing I think is the 'typing' indicator, it really doesn't belong in the
conversation window. Even after nearly a week of using it, I'm still not happy with its
location.

There are only a few things that I do not like.

Remember with the previous version of messenger? There was that sideways
stripey effect thing (an aurora?) that kept with the house style of Windows
Live and Vista. Now look at it. The aurora is gone and it has been replaced
with a badly designed gradient with only a few colours. The design is really
poor in this way. I like the new outline and shadows, but the colours are WAY
off.

I have noticed that the bar from the main window, in which all the buttons
are placed is the same as the bar from the Windows Explorer in vista.

It's great! Would you rather software stayed the same forever?
