Greetings,
Compatibility with a lot of Windows Messenger's features such as file transfer and
voice/video was cut in the latest Windows Live Messenger (2009).
So yes, as such, you'll need to stop using Windows Messenger by installing and using the
latest Windows Live Messenger instead. You can grab it at
http://download.live.com/messenger. Windows Live Messenger is fully supported on XP.
