Compatability resolution change

I have an application that wont run if the screen resolution is higher that
1024 x 768. Right now I am running Vista Home Premium, with a beautiful Dell
22" Wide FPD, at a resolution of 1680 x 1050.
I use this app fairly frequently but I dont want to leave the res at 1024x768.
I noticed that the resolution can be temporairily reduced through the
compatability tab of an apps link. But 640 x 480 is WAY to low for anything.
Is there any way to have the OS temorairily reduce the res to some custom
value for the duration of the apps session?
