Hi. I have recently purchased a Toshiba Qosmio laptop which does not come
with any Office product. I do have Office 2003 at home which I can load but
I'm thinking about getting the 2007 Ultimate package instead. My question is
this - after reading the specs for the 2007, it indicates that I have to have
Vista with Service Pack 2 ... how can I tell if I have Service Pack 2 or not?
Or, should I just go download it from the Microsoft site anyway? Thanks for
your help.

There is no Service Pack 2 or even 1 for vista!

Vista Ultimate(and any Vista version) does not come with any Office products.

My advice: install Office 2003, which you have; and it is compatible with
all versions of Vista. There are some updates for Office 2003(SP3), which you
will receive in auto updates in Vista.

They mean Windows ___XP___ with Service Pack 2.
There will be a service pack 1 for Vista. This is still in the beta
stage. Coming soon I hope.

you need XP with service pack 2, not Vista with sp2 since there is not even
sp1 yet.
Office2007 was made to work with vista very well.. and works with xp very
well too.

You can still use your office 2003 edition, you really dont NEED to upgrade
to office2007 unless you want some of the new features. Just download the
latest service pack 3 for office2003 it that makes it work 100% well with
vista...

I am talking about office2003 service pack 3. If you want a link to that
tell me.

Why don't you try the trial of Office 2007 first? You may find that you do
not like the new interface and want to stay with 2003.

ss.

You've read it wrong. It's Windows *XP* with SP2.

You don't have it, because it hasn't been released yet. SP1 hasn't
even been released yet.

You don't have SP2, but if you wait long enuf ... say by 2010, you might be
able to get it. That's if Micros~1 is still supporting Vista by then.

Cheers.

I think you may have misread that - it would be Windows XP with Service Pack
2 required to run Office 2007.

Vista hasn't even had SP1 released, let alone SP2.

Read the system requirements again.....

Windows XP - right click My Computer and go to Properties - that will tell
you the Windows Version, including the Service Pack info.
