Compatibility-Privilege Level

Hello,

One of my programs-according to their tech support-requires me to change
my privilege level to 'Run this program as an administrator' in order
for it to run under Vista; however, it is grayed out! I began checking
my other programs and found that the privilege level is
grayed out on all of them. Right clicking on the link and clicking on
"run as an administrator" also does nothing. I'm logged on as
Administrator also. Is there a fix for this so that my privilege levels
are no longer grayed out?

This may be due to the particular location of the files that you are trying
to run elevated - eg whether they're on a CD, in a subfolder of C:\Windows
etc. Post details of their location and you may get a better response.

Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned, every program I have on my
Desktop has the same problem-the privilege levels are grayed out.
All of them were installed in my C:\Program Files subfolder.

Others have apparently had this same problem. I Googled the issue
and this was one comment:

These are grayed out if the app has an internal manifest that declares its
run level.

According the the program's tech support people there is no 'internal
manifest' in their program, but it's still grayed out.

Did you find an answer in your search? I have also been told that th
privilege Level needs to be checked to Run this program as a
administrator before it will allow the add-ins to be added in Outloo
2007. I have been searching for an answer and was wondering if you di
find that it was specific to your program and not Vista

Apparently the "X-Newsreader: vBulletin USENET gateway", which you used to

Maybe we could guess from clues in your post, but it would be better if you
include at least the relevant parts of prior messages in your post.
Otherwise, we don't know The Rest of the Story.
