Complete removal of program

I tried to uninstall a program that had no uninstall portion associated with
it.
I used the "Add / Remove Programs" in the control pannel and got a message
"Setup cannot be installed because there was a problem authenticating your
Microsoft Windows Installer."

I have the newest Microsoft recommended version of Windows Installer and it
worked / works with any and all other programs.

I e-mailed the tech support for the program and got several solutions that
did not help me to remove the program. I am now stuck with a program
which after a year of trying to remove I took it upon myself to DELETE it
from the hard drive.
I have most of it removed execpt: There are some registry items that I
cannot remove.
I get " Cannot delete -program name- CommonClient.ccSetMgr.SettingsService:
Error while deleting key."
This error message occurs for every leftover registry key that I try to
delete.

I can not install any part or portion of a newer version of this program or
re-install the same version of the program, when I try to install a newer
version or re-install the same version I get the message "Setup cannot be
installed because there was a problem authenticating your Microsoft Windows
Installer." .

When I go the Control Pannel the program is still listed there, when I try to
remove it I get the message "Setup cannot be installed because there was a
problem authenticating your Microsoft Windows Installer."

Is there a way to "completely" remove the parts and portions of the program
that I attempted to delete?

And, just what is this program you're trying to uninstall? How is it related
to Windows Update?

Hi Shenan,
Well if you must know : the manufacturer is Symantec, the software name is
Norton SystemWorks 2008, the version is 11.0.2 Build 1, the Part Number:
12687916,
the Family SKU: 12813858
This information is somehow linked to the issue of removing the last
remnants of what is left of the program, right?

I appreciate the feedback Shenan and Tom (Pepper), which buy the way pepper
this doesn't have to do with windows update- sorry guys I thought this news
group was for problems with MS Windows in general.
I thought I was at the right place when I saw the question that asked about
"Deleting programs" (Carl date1/20/2009).

I guess I posted the question in the wrong group- I thought I posted it in
the English- Windows Discussion Group- Sorry!

I don't have to know - I guess - but considering you are having trouble
uninstalling it - knowing what it is increases your chances of getting a
correct answer.

Norton Products are well known for having issues like this.
