I am on my umpteenth attempt to install this service pack, and it goes well
until the 93% appears. I get a message that set up has failed, and I will
have to restart my computer and try again. It fails again, and again. I
have closed all running programs that I can, and still no can do. Can anyone
help?

Firstly, what you're talking about it the Service Pack for Internet Explorer
6 - not an SP for Win ME.

Having said that, this type of problem is frequently caused by not properly
disabling your anti-virus scanner.

The best option is probably to boot to Safe Mode, and install the service
pack while there.

If that doesn't work, then post back with the EXACT error message, and we'll
see what we can do

Noel, Thanks for your reply. I disabled the antivirus and everything else I
could think of, and that didn't help. How do I start in "Safe Mode"?

Shut down the PC - then reboot, tapping the F8 key about once a second.
This should bring up the Startup menu - pick the Safe Mode option.

If that doesn't work, then use MSCONFIG|Advanced - Enable Startup Menu.
