A .avi file that appears to be compressed (don't know how that happened)
won't open in WMP. I am using WMP 11, and the error message is C00D1199. I
am pretty desperate to get this file open, as I need to base a presentation
off of its recorded content.

Can I solve this problem by uncompressing the file? Is that even possible?

Please help! Thanks!

First try doing a Google search on the error message

Most AVI files are compressed (uncompressed AVI files are *huge*), so
I'm wondering what exactly you mean with this. Are you sure that the
file has an .avi extension?

Could it be that the file was additionally compressed with a program
like Winzip? In that case, change the file's extension to .zip and try
opening it again.

Regards

If the file that is compressed shows the compressed size only few kb then the
good chance is that the files is corrupted. But if the compressed size is ok
then you are missing some codecs that will be required to play the file. just
download this codec pack for media player and hope it works after that.

Good Luck!
