I probably need to change my Preferences, but I am not understanding proxy
and firewall comments?

Greetings Lucy,

If Messenger is indicating that it doesn't support Sharing Folders, you probably need to
convert your file system to NTFS.

Hi Jonathan Kay,

I am going on 70, retired, and a female to boot. I don't trust my computer
skills enough to try and convert my file system to NTFS. I have just
installed Windows XP and am trying to get used to the new features; even that
is a bit confusing.

Hi Lucy,

Well, there's nothing forcing you to the use the feature. The standard file transfer is
still there and functional regardless.

Oh golly, now I really am dumb! Is file transfer the same as file sharing? If
so, what do I need to click on to transfer a file? Thanks so much either way.
I will eventually figure it out.

Hi,

You have to convert the drive where your profile is kept (your Documents and Settings
folder). You'll administrator privileges to do it of course.
