My computer (HP m9000t) freezes up after coming out of sleep mode. I
have tried turning off sleep / hybrid sleep / hibernate, but the
computer still goes into "sleep" of some kind. When it comes out of
sleep, I can hear a whirling sound, which could be the harddrive
starting up, but moments later it sounds like it spins down and stops,
and then the whole computer freezes up, and I have to turn it off and
then turn it back on in order to make it work again. I've tried to make
it (using power options) so that the harddrive does not power down, but
that doesn't appear to do anything either, because the drive still turns
off when the computer sleeps. Before this problem developed, I was
having problems with the Media Center remote not working after sleep,
and was also having problems with the usb ports, and the sound turning
off. Something else was turning off too, because I could hear the
Windows "clunk" sound that indicates that something is not working, but
I haven't figured out what item was involved in that issue. On top of
all of this Media Center has stopped working, and to make it work I have
to delete a db file to get it opperating again. My other Vista computer
(HP m8067c) works like a gem, but this new one (HP m9000t) is nothing by
a constant hassle now. It was great for the first month, but now
nothing works right.
Of course all of the small issues of two weeks ago (remote not working,
etc.) are irrelevant now that the whole system freezes up. I contacted
HP and they said that I should do a system recovery, but that has not
worked either. As it stands now, I simply turn the computer off
whenever I leave it, because otherwise I have to do a reboot (turn the
computer off and on) whenever it comes out of sleep mode.
I dread sleep mode.
