computer freezes after downloading SP2

I've downloaded Windows XP SP2 several times but I have to remove it because
my computer freezes for a few minutes very often (like every 1-2 minutes).
Can anybody help me with this.

There are specific instructions on the Windows Update website regarding the
preparation of your system for SP2. I would suggest following these
instructions before downloading and installing SP2. Briefly, you must make
sure your system is free of all malware, all temporary internet files
cleaned up and it won't hurt to run defrag.
