Computer problem after Vista SP1 instalation

After installing SP1 update, my computer became very slow, the CPU light is
always flashing and the 2 MB RAM is used by about 90%. As a result the
computer is blocking my work many times, for periods of 2/3 minutes, driving
me crazy.
Does anyone can tell me what is the problem and how to fix this?

Did you install Vista SP1 via Windows Update or manually?

The instalation was made via Windows update

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you
installed Vista SP1?
