I install Some updates.. I restarted my computer to see this error tha
the kernel is missing or corrupt. I tried to repair using the instal
disk but it didn't help. I recovered from an earlyer backup no hel
either just got a new os saying windows vista recovered . So i tried
clean install but when the computer restarts to finish installing i ge
the kernel error. I thought cleaning the computer would help so i too
apart the computer cleaned with a cloth put everything back togethe
still didnt work.
When i boot up i have 3 os now.

Windows vista. NLS data is missing for this one.

Windows vista home premium recovered. NLS data missing for this on
too.

Windows vista home premium. Kernel is missing or corrupt for this one

None of them boot into safe mode.

Help pleas

It's entirely possible you have a hardware problem. Booting a Linux Live
CD could rule out several possibilities.

Re-installing was the wrong way to go, unless you assembled your pc yourself
and didn't have the CD's/DVD's to go along with the OS.
Those disks enable you to detect anything wrong with the system
and then to apply the fix accordingly.
By the looks of it you may be well served to:
1. make sure all components in your pc are in the right place and
working properly.
2. obtain those disks for re-installation and/or recovery if they are
missing.
Once everything is in place, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever.

You might want to do a "System Restore" to the date before you
downloaded the updates.
