Is anyone having any problems with trying to install updates and an error
message stating "The software you are installing has not passed Windows XP
Logo testing to verify it's compatibility with Windows XP"? I am wondering
if this may be caused by someother program that I might have installed.
After trying all of the suggestion provided earlier nothing has worked, but
now I have a new problem, once the update starts to install the screen goes
blank and then the computer roboots itself. Any ideas on how to fix this
problem? Thank you for any help that might be provided.

Try the suggested resolution methods on this page :

You cannot install some updates or programs
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=822798

Start with Method 4. If no joy, go to Method 1, etc.

Suggest you contact MS Support :

http://support.microsoft.com/default...ndows%20Update

" Issues with any software downloaded from Windows Update (such as
critical fixes or new applets) will receive no charge support via
E-mail or Phone Support. "

IF the issue is related to software you installed or hardware, then
you WILL be charged for telephone support. Email support is no charge.

SP1 or SP2 will be listed in Add/Remove Programs if they have been
installed. *Hotfixes* listed there will state whether they are
included in SP1 or SP2.
Since SP2 has been released, there is no need to install SP1 again.

Check Add/Remove Programs to see if SP1/SP1a OR SP2 is installed.

Kevin,

Go to Start, Run( have your XP CD on hand ), type this in the
Open: window --- sfc /scannow
Click OK or press Enter.

After you're done, go back to Windows Update .

Mow , I tried the suggestion you gave me below. My computer couldn't
accomplish this task, it just hung up and wouldn't do anything. I tried it 3
seperate times with rebooting in between. I also get this error message when
I start my computer for the 1st time each day: "The system has recovered from
a serious error", I always send the error report and then it goes to this
webasite: oca.microsoft.com/en/Response.asp?SID=10, which pertains to Error
caused by device driver. I have no idea how to find which driver is giving me
the problem. Hopefully this information helps a little more. Thanks once
again for your help.
