It's new laptop and just was running installation (Home Vista Premium), then
suddenly a error message "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered
an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows,
click "OK" or restart the computer, and then restart the installation". But
no matter what I've tried, that message appears again. Has anyone encountered
the same problem? Could anyone please help? I bought it overseas, costly to
send it back. Thanks in advance.

If it is a new laptop, what Operating System did it come with?
They come pre-installed!

If it's a new laptop, the proper response is to return it to the place of
purchase or to the manufacturer for repair or warranty work.

New laptops don't require an installation of an operating system.
Whatever the OP is doing probably has nullified any warranty.

New laptops DO require installation. Lenovo, Toshiba, HP, Acer and al
others ship the OS in a compressed format and extract/install on firs
boot. This is mostly for language reasons because the Vista license onl
supports one language. Please people, do your homework and stop givin
out bad/wrong info

I am having the same problem. I bought a new motherboard and installed Vista, but it was very unstable so I decided to reinstall.

It was on the final boot into a fresh install. Got a BSOD and then the message computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error vista installation, please reboot to continue, the system then just cycles through this over and over. I am using Vista 32bit Business Edition!

Config:
Pentium D 2.8 GHz. 915
2 GB DDR Geil dual channel Memory (one per slot)
Western Digital 320 gig, 7200 rpm SATA
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR/ motherboard
Power 500 Watt PSU

What can I do to resolve this? Is it safe to turn it off remove the cd and to boot? I had a previous installation can I restore that?

Wow...

not a terribly coherent question===>

but the screen with all zeros on it is significant

The problem is very likely to be with the video card.

Since you guys don't know how to deal with that...
take it in to the shop...

don't take it to one of those rip-off places though
such as Geek-Squad

Not every BIOS provides that capability.
