Check out this article:

Sounds like its hardware related, you probably should contact Dell and let
them check it out for you if its still under warranty.

Hi Cindy Campbell,

Check your Power Management. The laptop /may/ be in a hibernation
state. If this is only happening when you are *not* using the laptop
then I would guess the laptop after a set amount of time the laptop
enters into hibernation.

To Check Power Options:

Go into the Control Panel > Power Options. Is hibernation set at X
amount of minutes? If this option is then set then set the option to
never and see if the laptop shuts off after you walk away.

Hi everyone-

My name is John, and I just happen to be a support analyst at Dell
headquarters. I ran across this post, and decided I may as well chime
in... what the heck.

I happen to agree that if this is only happening when the system is
left alone, but not while it is being used, that it's most likely
hibernating. Granted, we really don't have enough information to say for
sure.

Is this happening consistently after a specific amount of time? That
would be a dead giveaway...
