Computer won't start up normally after service pack download.

I downloaded a whole bunch of updates onto my wifes computer last night, and
after I was prompted to restart the computer froze up during startup. It will
run in all safe modes, but when I try to start normally it just freezes and
allows nothing to happen. Any ideas on how to solve this?
