Computers will not accept new download

6 x Army computers all refuse to accept new download for Windows Messenger.
This is very annoying as soldiers do like to use their webcams microphones
etc! Is there any reason why it downloads and then once user name and
password is entered it once again says a newer version is available please
download? Windows Live Messenger is showing in the programmes list. Have
de-installed it and tried to workaround this as per Jonathan Kay's fix

try downloading from http://get.live.com/messenger/overview . It should have
the latest version. It may help, but I'm not sure.
